The Role of Professional Ethics to Achieving Good Governance and Financial Management in the Public Sector of Nigeria under the National Ethics and Integrity Policy. Even after numerous reforms and law-established standards to push-up transparency and accountability, however, there's still a dramatic gap in what and how destruction connected to conventional stationary produces effectively in governmental fixtures. Using survey research method, structured questionnaires were used to solicit the responses of selected public organizations within Cross River State. Statistical methods, such as the chi-square, were used to determine what insights could be gleaned as to the association between professional ethical behaviour and good financial practices. The study found no close relationship between the construction and enforcement of ethical standards, and economic stewardship in the public sector. However, it was not until these internal components—such as internal controls and a policy framework—caught up with information technology processes and speed that they became more influential. This finding demonstrates a disconnection between prosperity aliens and their applicability, and the humble itself may be insufficient given institutional commitment and structural affairs. The investigation suggests an imperative for a greater involvement of ethics into functional operations and tougher regulation mechanisms. It also points out the fact that public sector leadership should be actively drawn in on the development and execution of ethical policies. These findings can be useful for decision-makers to make policy changes to align ethics with measurably sensible accountability for public spending, ultimately resulting into better governance and public trust in Nigeria.
